Will ticket prices come back down? Went up >$100 in less than a day?

I have been eyeing a round-trip flight from Boston to Atlanta in late September for about a month now. It kept a steady price of $159 on Delta, AirTran, as well as all of the cheap ticket websites. Stupid me, I did not buy at that price, and as of Tuesday night at midnight, Delta’s raised to $300, and a few hours later, so did AirTran and cheaptickets.com. I realize now that apparently there was a summer promotion and it ended on August 25 (according to Delta.com). But seriously how could the prices jump THAT much, on ALL websites? Any speculation as to whether it may come back down? Is it country-wide that air ticket prices are increasing?
